I just got caught up in the frenzy. Yarn Pirate -- AKA Georgia -- finally has some yarn to sell. I came this close to getting a skein of Apple, which is downright stunning. I ended up with a skein of Sweet Magnolia instead. Really, really pretty!
Ok, I just read your comment on the Yarn Pirate blog, and you have now got me hooked on a new obsession-soakers! LOL!! So, I snagged a skein of zenstring's nivana worsted in Georgia (I was soo sad I couldn't get that colorway in fingering weight, but was thrilled to have an excuse to buy the worsted! LOL!!) Now I'm having a tough time deciding if I should get the wooly wonder pattern you mentioned, or a different one...How does the wooly wonder work up? Do you kitchener the crotch like other patterns? Is it quick to whip up, or has lots of painstaking bits? I'm making it for my tall, skinny toddler girl, and then maybe one (using different wool!) for my 7.5 week old boy... Thanks!!
THE EWS (Everlasting Wonder Soaker) has a younger, smaller cousin, called the Mini Wonder Soaker, which is good for little babies up to 20 pounds.
The EWS works up nicely, and does use Kitchener, but you have to reverse the knit/purl sequence when you get to the purl ribbing (it is a K7, P2 pattern). In other words, if you were to purl off the next stitch in stockinette, but the stitch is purl, you would knit it off. Clear as mud?!
I have Wooly Wonder, LTK and Belladonna Designs patterns, and I really like the WW patterns best. Loads of support from Pamela, too.
Her yarn is gorgeous, isn't it? I still like Angelina best, but she is definitely a close second! :-D What weight of the Sweet Magnolia did you get? Based on your "description comments" I'm assuming sock yarn. I'd love to see what pattern you'll use? And, of course, the final results!
Me -- Compulsive knitter, neurotic cleaner. Inveterate tea drinker. In touch with my inner pitbull. Oh -- I'm a writer/editor/proofreader by profession.I've changed directions and am now a fiber artist. The money is not as good, but the job satisfaction is high. How it is I'm only starting a blog now is beyond me.
